Support the North Texas Food Bank in our ongoing effort to provide food to evacuees and hungry North Texans

On August 26th Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas, causing mass devastation to the Texas Coast and bringing unprecedented flooding to the Houston area. The North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) is a member of the Mass Care Task Force (MCTF) alongside Red Cross DFW, Salvation Army, and VolunteerNow. The MCTF partners are meeting the needs of evacuees in the days following the disaster.  NTFB's unique role during MCTF activation is to provide food and fluids during the initial days of response, and to support the transportation and storage of other critical resources. Please consider a gift to support our work. Your unrestricted gift will help us meet the food needs of evacuees in our region, as well as those of hungry North Texans.

As of September 8, 2017: NTFB is continuing to provide resources to those impacted by Hurricane Harvey through our role in the Mass Care Task Force. We are proud to have already provided MREs, snacks, and water and other beverages for the evacuees currently residing in the Kay Bailey Hutchinson mass care shelter, as well as other DFW shelter locations. Additionally, our Social Services Team continues to be on-site helping evacuees apply for disaster food benefits. We are on standby to send food and resources to Houston area if requested by local or state officials.

Because of our learnings from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, we anticipate seeing a long-term need in our community resulting from Hurricane Harvey. In addition to those in shelters, we will likely also see a significant increase in need in the coming days, weeks and months from our partner agencies (food pantries) and programs because many evacuees are staying in North Texas with friends and family, and household resources are being stretched critically thin. In addition, our food supplies are 25-30% lower at this time of year following the summer months. Therefore, as we prepare for increased needs, we need your help.

Monetary donations continue to be the most effective way you can support our efforts. Use the form below to make an unrestricted donation to the North Texas Food Bank.
