Our warehouse volunteer experience includes sorting and boxing/bagging food for distribution to our 300 Member Agencies. Our Member Agencies vary in type and size but are generally soup kitchens, shelters, food pantries, afterschool programs, and religious/faith-based groups, etc. We have a number of stations set up to accommodate volunteer groups of all sizes. Volunteers are asked to participate in tasks ranging from sorting incoming donations and unsalable items, to an assembly line which produces boxes for our Food 4 Kids and Senior Food programs.

We would love to have you come and work with us. Between our two warehouse locations, we have many opportunities for you to serve! The hours below apply to both warehouses; you will receive notice of location in the weeks prior to your confirmed reservation.

  • On a weekly basis, we have volunteer opportunities Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • We Have Service Saturday shifts available on select Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Upon request, the North Texas Food Bank's warehouse facility has meeting rooms to accommodate your group. Please check this box if you would like us to look into room availability for your group.

A "shelter lunch" can be provided for your volunteer group at a cost of $10 per person to complete your volunteer experience at the North Texas Food Bank. Our very own Chef James will provide you with a meal of chicken spaghetti, salad & bread plus his famous "D's" chocolate chip cookies, all of which is what is also provided daily to our Member Agency shelter clients.

In order to provide a maximum lunch experience with minimal waste, we require that a "guarantee" number of lunches be provided five days prior to the volunteer date, in order to let Chef James know how many volunteers to be expecting. We happily accept individual payments (cash and check); we ask that they are collected by the main on-site contact for your group and that the sum equates to the guarantee amount.

If you are planning on filming or photographing the volunteer experience for publication outside your organization, or you are alerting the news media to cover your volunteering, you will need to let us know in advance so that we may ask any other groups present if they will consent to video/photo/media of them (especially if minors will be present). While the North Texas Food Bank cannot write and distribute press releases about third-party events, we are happy to help providing quotes from our executives for your release and will help coordinate any media opportunities.

We would love to set up a formal check presentation. Please check this if you would like us to help coordinate a time for an NTFB representative to be present for a formal photo opportunity.

We are happy to accommodate all volunteers. Please let us know if we should anticipate the arrival of volunteers with physical/mental limitations.

AM shifts are Monday through Saturday from 9am to noon.

PM shifts are Monday through Friday 1pm to 3:30pm; Saturdays from 1pm to 4pm
