The North Texas Food Bank does not limit its donation intake to food alone; there is an abundant need for household items in addition to canned goods and other nonperishable food items. Being a food pantry, of course the North Texas Food Bank seeks food and financial donations, but the pantry never turns any kind of donation away. The North Texas Food Bank is the perfect place to donate household items to charity, seeing as many people are in need of donations such as couches, Christmas trees, lamps, cleaning supplies, toiletries, and a plethora of other types of items that can easily be overlooked but are important nonetheless.
Between its 260 Member Agencies across the 13 counties (Dallas, Denton, Collin, Fannin, Rockwall, Hunt, Grayson, Kaufman, Ellis, Navarro, Lamar, Delta, and Hopkins) it serves, the North Texas Food Bank is a good place to donate household items to charity. Of its 260 member agencies, the NTFB currently serves four soup kitchens, eight agencies dedicated to senior services, 11 shelters, 21 day cares, 61 residences, 110 youth programs, 147 emergency agencies, and four other programs. All of these diverse programs and agencies utilize the pantry’s food sources, and many of them utilize the North Texas Food Bank’s intake of household items when needed. The food bank is happy to provide any needed item, whether it be edible, tangible, or simply “food for the heart.” Many of these items are taken for granted by the average person, and the North Texas Food Bank is happy to supply them to North Texans in need.
Many people that donate household items to charity want to be ensured that their items are going to be effectively put to use rather than wasted or forgotten about. The North Texas Food Bank’s structured warehouse allows the warehouse staff quick and easy access to any and all inventory received. When an agency places an order of what they need via phone or online, the NTFB warehouse staff can easily locate all that is ordered, place it in a delivery section with the agency’s information, and complete the delivery as quickly as possible. Most orders are made routinely each month, but sporadic orders are not unusual and are handled with urgency.
