Suggestions for a Successful Food Drive

  • Establish a GOAL for your drive
  • Email daily or weekly REMINDERS to your employees and keep them informed on the status of your drive
  • Create a thermometer or some sort of visual chart to post in a public place so employees have an ongoing reminder of your drive; consider creating a PDF of that visual so you can email that to employees as well
  • Enter the name of each employee who makes a donation into a DRAWING for fun prizes, such as movie passes, gift certificates, etc.
  • Remember to tell your employees WHO will benefit from your drive – where their money is going. Pull key messages from the Fact Sheet or our website to “personalize” the cause of hunger. Remind them of the mission of the North Texas Food Bank:

The North Texas Food Bank seeks to eliminate Hunger by distributing food and grocery products through a network of nonprofit organizations while providing education and increasing community awareness on issues of Hunger.

  • Share important INFORMATION about the Food Bank with them:
  • Our Effectiveness:

    • $10 of distributed food
    • 7 pounds of food
    • 5 meals
    • 97 cents in food distribution; 3 cents in administration/fundraising
  • Post the Food Bank FACT SHEET around the office and in the break areas.
  • Email the Food Bank WEBSITE to employees so they can learn more about the Food Bank: ntxfoodbank.org.

Good luck with your Virtual Food Drive! Your support will go along way towards helping to eliminate Hunger in North Texas.
