The Charity Holiday Card, sold by the North Texas Food Bank, is a great way to donate to a prominent charity while wishing your family and friends a Happy Holiday. For every Charity Holiday Card that is bought, a charitable donation is made in the name of the recipient for a person that truly needs the assistance during the holiday season. In 2007, the inside of the North Texas Food Bank’s Charity Holiday Card read, “Happy Holidays! A donation has been made in your name to the North Texas Food Bank. Every dollar provides four meals for hungry North Texans and will go directly to the 764 feeding and education programs served by the North Texas Food Bank.” These 764 feeding and education programs include but are not limited to Charitable Produce Center, Commodities Supplemental Food Program, Community Kitchen, Food for Families, Food 4 Kids, Hunger Link Prepared Foods, Kids Café, Main Program, Nutrition Education/Operation Frontline, Summer Food Service Program, and Texas Second Chance, serving 13 counties across North Texas. These counties consist of Dallas, Denton, Collin, Fannin, Rockwall, Hunt, Grayson, Kaufman, Ellis, Navarro, Lamar, Delta, and Hopkins counties.
The North Texas Food Bank is proud to say the Charity Holiday Card has sold out every year it has been available. The 2007 package pricing consisted of $25 for 5 card bundles, $115 for 25 card bundles, and $200 for 50 card bundles. The Charity Holiday Card has proven to be a great success; many people feel good about buying these cards versus generic cards from a grocery store due to the fact that the North Texas Food Bank’s Charity Holiday Card is going to a worth cause while also fulfilling a purpose that would otherwise be fulfilled without a donation being made. Also, recipients of the cards tend to be grateful that they were thought about not only for happy holiday wishings but also for an honorary donation. The North Texas Food Bank has found that other North Texans are especially pleased to receive these cards, but that does not mean people in other areas of Texas, the United States, or even the world are not extremely happy to know that a monetary donation is being made in their name toward a person or family that really needs it.
The North Texas Food Bank also sells an annual calendar titled Hunger & Thirst during the holiday season. To purchase your Charity Holiday Card and/or Hunger & Thirst 2009 calendar or to simply donate to the Food Bank, please visit www.ntfb.org.
