Food Stamp Outreach

SNAP (Food Stamp) Outreach
Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program
SNAP (Food Stamp) Program is key to addressing the nutritional needs of low-income Texas families and one of the nation's most important defenses against hunger. However, many barriers to participation remain. Nationally, only 60 percent of those eligible for food stamps receive them.  In Texas, less than 58 percent of those eligible receive food stamps.

The North Texas Food Bank outreach coordinators help increase enrollment through application assistance, education, and outreach in 13 Texas counties. It's completely free and no cost to the applicants.

If you or someone you know may be eligible for food stamps, NTFB Social Services Coordinators are able to:

  • Answer questions about the application process, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Supply the proper forms and application assistance to properly complete the required forms.
  • Complete the application and interview process in one visit.
  • Issue an EBT benefits card, if applicable.
  • Provide status updates on your case, once you have applied through this department.

NTFB Coordinators partner with local agencies and food pantries to reach the local communities in 13 counties.  There are several levels of involvement:

  • Providing space for one of our Coordinators to come onsite set appointments for application assistance which may lead to an interview.
  • Offering applications with instructional flyer and an envelope for the client to mail in their application to our office.
  • If the application is mailed in, the interview will be conducted over the phone.
